The fifth annual shearwater festival moved to Cowes today with a parade up Thompson Avenue which included five wonderful huge rubbish puppets made with five local schools and supervised by SF artist-in-residence Camille Monet.
The puppets were carried by willing adults and children, and the parade included drummers and even dog-walkers, including BCSC councillor Michael Whelan with his pup – all the dogs were on leads, of course.
Many of the children took advantage of the ‘flapping shearwater puppet’ activity in the museum. Here are some snaps from the day: the big shearwater puppet resting after the parade; another of the schoolchildren’s rubbish puppets; and children in the museum with their flapping shearwaters.
