Regardless of what you think of Coalition policy on the environment and carbon reduction, the Green Army will soon be marching Phillip Island’s way, with several projects in the pipeline for Bass Coast Shire. This bulletin is from Greg Hunt’s March e-news:
“I am pleased to see local Green Army projects taking shape across the electorate.
This was a key election commitment as part of the Government’s Cleaner Environment Plan.
The Green Army is a voluntary programme that will encourage hands-on, grassroots action to support local environment and heritage conservation projects across Australia.
In Flinders we are committed to rolling out three projects across the electorate; in Western Port, the Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island & Bass Coast.
The Government will shortly be undertaking a tender process for Service Providers, who will engage the Green Army Teams, supervisors, manage activities to ensure projects are completed safely and report regularly on progress.
